Menorca is the island which more preserves prehistoric remains. In 1993, Menorca was stated as Biosphere Reserves by UNESCO and World Heritage, with more than 40 per cent of the island legally preserved. All this permits that we can enjoy in the island  the beauty of its beaches and coasts or walking, horse and boat tours. Not to forget the archeological remains, caves or monuments, popular festivities, its history and traditions or its gastronomy.

It has many native plant species and also different animal species such as sargantanas or the Menorcan horse, very appreciated by the European breeders.

Geographically, the island is divided in two areas: the North area ( Tramuntana), more affected for the hand winds of the island, with stone beaches and cliffs. And on the other hand, the South area is warmer, with quiet waters and sand beaches.

Its economy is mainly hand-crafted. Its nationally ( even internationally ) known products are shoe ( abarcas ), Mahon cheese or gin.

The most important festivity is Sant Joan, on 24 th of June, where people from all Spain and foreign tourists gather, attracted to this special night where horses, typical Menorcan dances, horse riders and gin are the main characters.
